VS: vertical speed in feet per minute (FPS)

• a: aircraft cruise altitude or top of Descent (TOD) in feet
• A: airport altitude  (QNH) in feet
• d: distance where we started the approach to the TDZ airport in nautical miles
• v: ground speed of aircraft (GS) in knots
